Hot Springs Country Club

South Central Golf - Oct/Dec 1998
Arkansas Business - October 1998
This 40,000 square foot facility is centered on the 18th fairway of one golf course and designed to accommodate a large number of people in a variety of activities. The vehicular and pedestrian circulation is arranged to avoid conflicts and maximize efficiency. The design presents an aesthetically pleasing front to all directions, while effectively screening the utility and service access on the west side.
The building is comprised of large dining and entertainment areas, card rooms, a commercial kitchen, and a fitness gym. A “Crow’s Nest” area above the roof provides a panoramic view of the country club’s two golf courses. Decks and terraces on all sides are accessible from the dining areas. The project also includes an outdoor lap pool, children’s pool, and pool house.
The interior public spaces of the clubhouse are reminiscent of traditional clubhouses in their detailing and style, but are very modern in lighting, technology, and accessibility. Circulation and adjacency were very important to the layout and arrangement of spaces. The Grand Ball Room, the Members Dining, the west side lounge and the men’s grill card room all have views to one of the club’s two 18-hole golf courses.
